Someone came by last night and removed a bunch of stuff from my office. This includes my wastebasket, half a box of Girl Scout Cookies which would have been my breakfast, and a pad of paper and pen that I'd deliberately left out to continue working this morning. A whole bunch of notes on the front of that pad are going to be very hard to duplicate; I've lost several hours' work. Plus breakfast. Plus my favorite pen. I don't even know what else I'm missing.

I have zero motivation to do anything productive today. I'm just furious.

I hate moving and its not just the incovenience of trying to track down your stuff. What bothers me the most is trying to set up your "space" afterwards, not your things but the aura that surrounds the place where you feel comfortable working. It always takes me awhile to become comfortable enough with an area so that I can concentrate on my work instead of being constantly aware of the "newness" around me.

Turns out they also took the labels with which I was supposed to tag all my boxes and computer equipment. Luckily, I found some more. My best guess at this point is that the janitorial staff just swept it all into the wastebasket (before removing the wastebasket). I'm glad I didn't leave a cell phone out; they'd probably have thrown it away!

I estimate three days in the new office before I'm pretty comfy; two weeks before it feels right. I've been a contractor most of my working life, so up until now I've never really HAD more than months in one place...

So is the move over yet? or are you still in the throes of chaos?

{{{{hugs}}}} either way!

The other shoe dropped, and after that it started calming down...
