Still not king, oops I mean still not healthy

Am I the only one whose senses of smell and taste get way more acute when fighting past a cold? Seriously, I can taste the salt in Calistoga fizzy water, my shampoo is unbearably strong, and yesterday I had to remove a slice of summer sausage from my room because the smoky smell was getting to me. I don't know how unusual these things are, but I know they're unusual for me. And let's not discuss what fever does to the odor of one's body. Dear Lord.

I could also smell catnip through a bubble envelope. I'll let [livejournal.com profile] jackiecat tell that story. Moria, thank you, that was awesome! She's STILL playing with it.

In other news, the fever's lower but not gone, my energy is coming back but is nowhere near good, I still want my tonsils out purely because they hurt, and I still cough the most between the hours of midnight and 4am. I ran a little commando raid on my office to get some more stuff so I could keep working from home, heh heh heh. No one even saw me, which is good for their future health. I have all the Sucrets and Cepacol a girl could possibly want, and Rob's going to the grocery store so I'll soon have chicken soup again as well. Things could be worse.

If your coughing when your laying flat, you need a wedge (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00065IP42/sr=1-7/qid=1132365009).

no, i can't say i've got ANY sense of smell when i'm sick. smelling things is always a surprise. there's something else we can swap, or at least share.

glad to hear you're on the mend. you keep resting, even though you're starting to feel better -- i know you've a lot coming up!

Owww. :-( I feel your pain, metaphorically, at least. My parents had my tonsils removed when I was 4. I've always wondered why that was considered a good idea, but I guess this illustrates it pretty well.

You've already taken antibiotics, or? Fever shouldn't last that long, if it's just a cold.

my brain singing Sucret Sucret, I've got a Sucret

Would that be from the hit album, Gilroy Is Near?

The Jackiecat catnip & chamomile stories are most enjoyable. :)

I don't think I've ever had a cat who has smelled chamomile & reacted to it like catnip -- but they just may not have had the opportunity. I did once have a (b&w) cat, Star, who reacted to Bounce Dryer sheets & Flexall 454 residue like it was catnip... all rubs & rolls on the area of either scent. (Once she got too close to a dab of actual Flexall 454 -- that was NOT good, too strong, much foaming and annoyed rubbing as it created a burning sensation on her tender nose. Thankfully, she recovered ok.)

I thought about putting the above comment over on [livejournal.com profile] jackiecat's catnip post (linked above) but my brain is too tired to figure out how to word it to address it to her about a cat who is no longer with us. [Star lived to 16 years old. She was quite a hunter of birds in her lifetime, a natural, considering we fostered her from early kittenhood (she was found in a box in a field) without a momma cat to teach her to hunt.]

As to your cold -- feel better soon!

You're not alone, hon. If I'm ill, I usually pray for sinus congestion - else everyday smells become bloody offensive.

I wonder, I have yet to have a regular old cold since quitting smoking. Smells are much stronger since I quit, so if everything's consistent, I'm really going to be a bitchy queen when it does happen. *grin*

Get better soon. *hug*
