I have a cat that had 'lots of hairballs' (in fact, looks a lot like Jackie!). Actually, I have two cats, both long-hair, black cats. One threw up lots, the other hardly ever did. The one who throws up lots has kitty IBD.
That's managed thru a novel protein diet and/or drugs. Which is not necessarily what Jackie has, but might be worth looking into.
