Oh, the details

OK, I'm going to get home, loopy maybe, in pain certainly, trying to figure out how to move on crutches while my feet scream at me for my hubris in even being upright at all. The first thing I'll want to do is get in bed, right?

Convalescing from foot surgery in a second story room is perhaps not the brightest idea I have ever had. :-)

I'm sure it's possible to get up those stairs once, likely on my bum. I think [livejournal.com profile] rfrench should have a video camera handy.

(realistic answer: plunk down on the *couch*. close to kitchen, even.)

Based on my experiences with my wife's broken ankle...

Choose whichever floor has the most accessible bathroom and stay there as much as possible.

(umm... on that floor, not necessarily in the bathroom...)

*nod* Both floors have very convenient bathrooms.

I get a visual of you sitting on a two-wheel dolly-like contraption being pulled up the stairs from behind. Yes, a video camera should be handy. :-)

Fridge dolly. Definitely.

strapped to it, in a straightjacket, with a face mask?

*ducks and runs*

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2005-07-29 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Strapped to it, yes, certainly. For, uh, safety.

Is this the point where I say "Not tonight, dear, I have a footache"? ;-) ;-)

You'll want to be close to bathroom, close to food. Speaking from broken foot experience.

I did manage stairs twice a day and came down and sat on the couch (from the upstairs bedroom) then went back up at night. Knees for crawling upstairs works. Don't suppose your couch is a sleeper?

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2005-07-29 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Not a sleeper, but I'm short. :-)

Knees for up! Yeah! And I already go downstairs backwards (facing up), so that makes me think knees would work for down as well. Excellent.

I was a little confused, because I was thinking the guest room was upstairs, but it's been so long since I was at your house I figured I was misremembering :-)

Nah, you've got it right. :-)

For next time (ghod forfend)

If you should ever need such surgery again, add "get paladin" and "acquire minions" to pre-surgery list.

*hugs*

I keep rolling for "get paladin" and it's not working, darnit!

Gah! I meant "palanquin"

Teach me not to check $15 words with the dictionary first!

Heh. I thought a paladin would make an unusually good minion. :-) Palanquin works too! O'course I need several minions for that one.
