It's time to vote! I know California is highly chocolate, while peanut butter will clearly win Georgia, but your vote still counts. Do you live in a swing state? Then it's even more imperative that you go to the polls.

That's if and only if you agree with me, of course, because there is only One True Way where sweets are concerned. Anyone who disagrees with me is undereducated and easy to dismiss. My own opinion is the one held by all the smart people.

Vote today!

alas, i am allergic to both chocolate AND peanut butter. of course if i had to choose, i'd definitely have to side with the chocolate.

Yikes! Both? Owie!

I hope you have nearly-orgasmic responses to something healthy, just to make up for this double whammy.

chocolate for me (british chocolate while I'm here in Britain's "splendid isolation" ) - and for you too, if you want some.

The thing is, in Reeses, the chocolate is crappy chocolate, and the peanut butter is crappy peanut butter, but they work well together. I can't imagine choosing just one in that context.

But... but... I want both!!

I do have the chocolate gene, but I've always been a fan of peanut butter, and I do love Reese's... both versions. :-)

I've tried both the chocolate lovers and the peanut butter lovers versions and I prefer the regular reeses cup.

So I agree, neather one wins, but voted chocolate, becasue...well...even crappy chocolate wins with me. ;)

I am particularly amused by the paper insert. In the chocolate version it advertises the peanut butter version, and vice versa. Each one urges the reader to "Experience Another Kind of Love". All righty then.

Clearly Hershey Foods Corp. needs to be introduced to the Power of And. ;-)

Me either. Even the skewed proportions of the Limited Edition versions are not as good, to me, as the original one.

But then I hate choosing. ;-)

To their credit, historically they seem to have a good idea of it.
Thursday, April 28th, 2005 11:41 pm (UTC)
I prefer chocolate as well, although I must admit for Reese's either one is worse than the original ratio!
Thursday, April 28th, 2005 11:44 pm (UTC)
Quite true. They certainly aren't shy about test-marketing something in which they've added some new ingredient. They have a new candy bar out (Take Five, I think), that has pretzels in it.

artichokes dipped in melted butter. mmmm...

Typical two-confection politics. They're both just shades of brown anyway. Where's http://billionairesforchocolateorpeanutbutter.com when you need it?

Ever tried them in french or western dressing? Mmmmm!
Friday, April 29th, 2005 02:24 am (UTC)
And for some reason I like the little bite size ones better than the big ones. And the Valentine Hearts were even better!

Buwahahahaha!! I remember those TV ads! I read your subject line and literally had a childhood flashback. Heh.

If you really like Reeses or just want to try another peanut butter and chocolate concotion go and get some chocolate covered, peanut butter stuffed pretzels from Trader Joes.

Truly, truly addictive

All my TV references are really old. Another decade or two and people will know they're geriatric by whether they catch media references I make. :-)

Peanut butter!

I can't vote because I haven't tried either, but I suspect I won't like either as much as the original. Somehow (Dumb luck? Experimentation?), Reese's got the combination of chocolate and peanut butter perfect in the regular peanut butter cup. And it stayed that way for years and years. And then they (and every other candy company) decided they could make more money by making their candy smaller or bigger or inside out or in a different shape or substituting one kind of chocolate for another... or whatever. And every single variation (to me, at least) has been worse than the original. :( It's gotten to the point where, as a matter of principal, I won't even buy the miniature peanut butter cups even though they're 95% as good.

I, too, prefer the original over all variations I've tried since.

It's weird how delicate that balance is. And it's not just peanut butter and chocolate. Kit Kat is one of my favorite candy bars and the first time I saw a "Big Kat" or whatever they call them, I was very excited. But it just wasn't right, somehow. :(
