Rob, don't read this unless you're sitting down and not in control of a vehicle.

On my way to an appointment, I stopped by a store I'd seen many times: Whiffle Tree Quilts. I had fifteen minutes to browse. I didn't buy any fabric. (Oops, there he goes: that *thunk* was Rob hitting the floor.) I sure did see some beautiful colors, though! :-)

Hmm. I've got a good friend (since 1981!) in Los Altos. We were at Stanford CS together, then at Adobe, so she's both techie and artsy. She's an award-winning art quilter. You might have run across her on your own. Linda Gass (http://www.lindagass.com/) -- check out her stuff.

My apologies to Rob if you start doing hand dyed silk :)

Ah... I had not heard of that quilt store before. I may have to take [livejournal.com profile] jemstone's mother over there to check it out. (I've not yet done any quilting -- but she has done a couple of queen size quilts & some lap quilts. The other quilter in the family, my sister, is much further away in Tennessee.

The concept of Rob reading LiveJournal while in control of a vehicle is amusing in itself.

or at least were a fabric junkie.

What about sewing machines? I saw a nifty sparkly purple featherweight machine at the SF quilting show this weekend that I really wanted, but couldn't justify.

Want a really expensive fiber hobby? Try needlepoint.
