If the diabetes thing turns out to be real, I guess you'd need to see a podiatrist. There's no reason why diabetics can't use shoe inserts, the store-bought ones just tell you to consult your doctor or say "not for diabetics" because they don't want anyone suing them. The main concern is people who do not have adequate sensation in their feet to tell when they've been hurt or injured.
