Barnacle, n. A person who expends significant effort to ensure he does not get separated from some other person in a group social setting. See also puppydog.
I worry sometimes that I may have barnacle tendencies, mainly with whomever I went with to such a group setting, because I don't open up quickly in social situations in which I don't know very many people, and I feel I suck at small talk.
