And the car is...
...no better than it was. I thought it was my imagination at first, but no, it was definitely still backfiring on my drive to work this morning. So I didn't go to work; I instantly detoured right back to the shop.
The guy I talked to yesterday saw me again this morning, and he sounded very surprised that the problem wasn't fixed. He looked worried: is this customer off her rocker, or does this car have some much more serious problem than we found last time? I asked "just out of curiosity" where the new parts should be visible under the hood. For all I know, they're all hidden by an old plastic housing, but it sure did look to me like nothing had changed. So we opened it up and his eyes got big.
Nothing had been done.
The tech who diagnosed the problem had replaced the parts and test-driven it. So far so good. Then he'd asked the service rep what next - y'know, the "give the customer the updated estimate now that we know the scoop" phase. My guy said I was outta town, just hold onto it. So the tech put everything back the way it was, buttoned it up, and left it! :-O
Oops.
The service rep was profusely apologetic.
So they've got my car again, and hopefully THIS time it will be healthy when it comes back to me!
[Long pause. Dianna came by and I went and GOT it.]
It's better now!!!!!!!!!
