Economic indicators

I worked in this building in my previous job. There was always a hot dog vendor on the corner. Cheerful guy, ex-tech type. When this building and several others nearby went vacant, so did the hot dog vendor corner. That was two or three years ago.

This morning, for the first time since, I saw a hot dog vendor on the corner again. (I'm somewhat bummed that it's a different guy.)

I think I'm having hot dogs for lunch today. Just 'cause. :-)

MMMMMMHotDogs.
Even better when they're from the vendors.

Tasty. Unhealthy, and I'd get awfully tired of them after a couple days in a row, but occasionally... very tasty!

I don't even want to know what's in them, like Brats. But, they taste so salty and good. I usually reserve my hot dog consumption for sporting events. It's been awhile though.

"People who enjoy eating sausage and respect the law should never watch either one being made." Otto von Bismarck. :-)

Yeah, I felt like I should be at a baseball game.

To that quote, I added "Not to mention web sites."

Hot dogs aren't just for breakfast anymore. ;-)

We'll see! I mentioned this "economic indicator" to the vendor, who replied that he hoped this corner could support a vendor again. Today's his first day as a hot dog vendor at all.

Definitely!

The traffic congestion seems to be back also. Many of my long-term unemployed friends are getting offers. Looks like recovery.

We need a "Hot Dog Index."

[identity profile] cjsmith.livejournal.com 2004-09-16 01:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I've noticed traffic getting markedly worse lately.

"Hot Dog Index" - that's perfect! If I were a good humor writer I'd make up a column on the "Hot Dog Index" and post it here. :-)

There was apparently an article in the Murky News about the traffic today.

Wow, I guess a lot of people are noticing it. Maybe it's not just my impatience making me think traffic is getting thicker!
