Life imitates art

Did y'all see the tornado warning for Los Angeles this weekend? (It was later retracted. I can just imagine the guys at the National Weather Service. "Uh, we're rebooting everything, sorry folks.")

Somebody's been watching too many movies.

Tornadoes do, and have happened here in Los Angeles... movies or no.. it just takes a particular warm thing mixing with a cold thing..

Now true, SoCal isn't exactly "Tornado Alley" or anything like that.. I'll have to look for some statistics but I swear somewhere I read that California in general gets a lot more tornadoes than people realize though we are "known" for our earthquakes. ;) Rare though they are..

Sure. They can happen anywhere. But this weekend was very untornadolike! I suspect Los Angeles in August is not tornado season. I wonder what glitch caused that report in the first place.

We get a few funnel clouds up here in the Bay area every winter. Most don't touch, though.

Well.. Saturday morning (I was up about 10 or so watching something Tivoed from 8 or so) and there were some pretty nasty clouds in the sky. I'll admit, nasty clouds do not a tornado make.. and I was amused at seeing the Tornado Warning for LA County on the screen...

Sunday was perfect of course! ;)
