Yes. When Meredith was 8, she had a hernia repair, and was fine in a few days. K had the very same surgery when he was in his early 30's, and I was surprised when they said he would need a couple of weeks to recuperate. The doctor chuckled and said adults take much longer to heal than children do.

On the other hand, no surgery is better than surgery when you're younger. If there's any possibility of treating the problems short of surgery, it's usually better to try those first. You're still young, you have plenty of time! (Ack! Did I really say that? =wail= I'm really getting old! =sob=)
