I've had pain in the ball of my foot -- right foot most, although it shows up a bit in the left -- for probably more than a month now. I've kept hoping it would go away. I figured maybe I'd rest my feet on my trip. (Ha!)

The day after the holiday run my feet hurt pretty badly. I could only run about a mile. I probably shouldn't have done even that.

I've developed a new gait where I pronate on purpose, just to keep my weight off the bad part.

Hope isn't a valid strategy: the pain isn't going away. No more running for CJ. I have an appointment with a podiatrist tomorrow morning. Wish me luck! :-/

[The receptionist asked the reason for my visit to the doctor. Er, my feet hurt? He's a PODIATRIST! What other answers do you GET to this question? We both chuckled over that.]

Thanks! I hope it's something easy to fix.

If you altered your gait at all, you shouldn't run on it, believe me.

Yeah, no kidding. That run I stopped early was exactly when I started experimenting with different gaits. That's what finally hit me over the head: YES it needs attention. I am being soooo good until I see the doc tomorrow morning! :-(

You should have said "I'm having an affair with the doctor."

I wish I'd thought of that! 8-)

Well, if you need a second opinion, you'll know what to say.
