UGH.

Well. I got sick of browser problems related to LJ -- the latest is not being able to reply to a comment, because the page simply won't load -- so I updated to Netscape 7.02.

This is HEINOUS.

Most things are faster and more reliable. Typing, however, seems to max out at three characters per second. I type a sentence or two and wait several breaths for the text box to catch up with me.

I may have to give up on LJ.

[Now awaiting "advice" of the form "use my browser". Also awaiting insight into this behavior, if anyone's got that.]

There sure does seem to be a lot to this UI. Oddly enough, coming from a person whose realm was UI design for years, I actually prefer simplicity.

OK, how do I grab a copy of Phoenix?

If they mean the gecko-based (mozilla-ish) phoenix, mozilla.org has it.

Have you tried changing fonts, to see if that has an effect on the typing problem? (Just a guess...) _Mark_

For the most recent release:

There are links for downloading part way down the page.

Hey, thanks! This is a much faster browser than Mozilla 1.0.0, which I've been using on my Toshiba Tecra 510 running Debian Linux. I like it!

Not odd at all - minimalist is elegant :)

La perfection est atteinte non quand il ne reste rien à ajouter, mais quand il ne reste rien à enlever.

-- Antoine Saint-Exupery

(You know you've achieved perfection in design, not when you have nothing more to add, but when you have nothing more to take away.)
