2.5 miles, just under half an hour. My timing was imprecise enough that I don't know whether I was under an eleven-minute mile or not. If I could keep up THAT pace, which I strongly suspect I cannot!!, I could do B-to-B in an hour and a half.

I am meeting lots of wonderful neighborhood dogs. 8-)

The blisters are getting bad. There are three, now, layered. @#$ it, I need better shoes. These seemed so good when I was trying them on... :-/

My appetite fluctuates greatly according to mood, amount I'm concentrating, and physical exertion. Yesterday I didn't do much and I ate only seven hundred calories. Had to force myself to eat the last five hundred of that. I think that contributed to making this morning's run a little tougher than it otherwise might have been. Note to self: today, eat.

Good run. Decent pace. Have you tried putting moleskin on the blisters? Also, how about a 2nd pair of socks?

Thanks. Wish I could keep it up! No, I haven't tried moleskin, mainly because these don't seem to be the usual run of friction blister. They are forming on the sole of my foot, by the ball of the big toe, where the shoe's arch extends. The shoes are noticeably longer than my feet (my feet are very wide). I think for running shoes it'd be best to get something that fits in width AND length... if I can find it!

For the shoes, try Road Runner Sports (roadrunnersports.com); even though they're mail-order, they're incredibly helpful, you can talk to someone on the phone, and they'll take shoes back no-questions-asked. They'll have soemtning in your size (they have the best selection I've seen anywhere, bar none, and I've visited their store-cum-warehouse in San Diego.)

BTW, I'm thrilled to hear of your progress and hope you run the race! Unfortunately for me, the test came back positive for mono, so I'm off running for this season; there's no way I'd be able to catch up in time for summer races. I'm hoping to walk the B-to-B this year so it won't feel like a total loss.

And your times sound good. The first 2 miles arent' much faster than 11 or 12 minutes per simply due to crowding. You'll also find yourself running faster during the race itself due to adrenalin.
