I'm going through old notes and came across some from an orthopedic surgery seminar. Man, that surgeon had some great ways to put things. Here are the only two I managed to record.
About a spectacularly stupid dog he knew: "If it were to develop another neuron, it could have a synapse."
What it's like the first time you go in to surgically reduce a fracture: "You'll feel like a cow, with a gun, going fishing."
I particularly like that last one. First times doing something new, especially something new and difficult, are like that. I remember my first abdominal surgery! A cow, with a gun, going fishing. Stick with it. Sometimes, you get good at something difficult.
