The naked eggs are coming along pretty well. I changed the vinegar at the halfway point, as the instructions described. At that time the shells were slightly no-longer-white and decidedly slimy to the touch. The frothy bubbles clung together like sea foam.
I did make the "mistake" of using some eggs that weren't very fresh. (Why waste something I would otherwise have eaten?) Those eggs float in vinegar, just as they do in water, and it's difficult to etch off the part of the shell that's up in the air. For the second half of the process I filled the bowl all the way to the brim and put the close-fitting lid on, forcing the eggs down and also spilling vinegar all over the top shelf of the fridge. I did clean most of that up when Rob complained. :-) I will get naked eggs with air bubbles when I'm done, and I will have a bit more fridge-cleaning to do after I pull that bowl out.
Photos soon.
