Here is how my day went:
- Cross off to do item
- Cross off to do item
- Cross off to do item
- Package the application to submit for testing
- Edit the application specification document for submittal
- Re-package with the new document
- Have long discussion about whether to push fixes to the server now or later
- Push the fixes; test using the packaged application; decide all is well
- Try FIVE TIMES to submit the application for testing via the new and "improved" web site
- Finally succeed
- Have a meeting about how to build trackable client binaries for marketing
- Notice that now no matter what I do to the app (the app I just submitted for testing) it CRASHES
- PANIC
- Run around like headless chicken
- PANIC
- PANIC
- PANIC
- Fess up to the operations guy, the Sr. Director of Engineering and Operations, and the CEO that I have totally hosed the testing submission SOMEHOW but I don't know how
- Test yesterday's client against today's server (crash), yesterday's client against yesterday's server (good), yesterday's client against today's server except with shorter version string (good), today's client against today's server except with shorter version string (good)
- Push out a shorter version string to the test server
- Decide our submitted application is safe and does not need to be cancelled
- Pass out
I want a full-body immersion in STRESS RELIEF!
