No pattern work at Livermore for me today. Winds heinous. Phoned my instructor to discuss; he said it would be my call, and I said the real question was whether I'd get anything out of it. So we bailed.
I felt like a coward. Later learned not one plane was up at Palo Alto this afternoon, and the flying club even closed the office early. I still feel like a coward.
Still, got to talk to my instructor. I told him I didn't want to wait for the Good Flying Fairy to come by. He suggested "chair flying"* a couple of times around the pattern, several times this week, including just before my next lesson. I'll give it a go.

* I looked for a web site with a succinct explanation and didn't quickly find one. Basically you sit in a chair, pretending it's the pilot's seat, and you visualize every detail of a flight, in order, just as if you were flying it. What did you just do with the controls? Where are you looking? What's your airspeed now? What does the horizon look like in that turn? What do you do next? Will you have to add rudder?
