Booted up the home desktop and restored my PalmPilot data off it. Phew! That machine is very old, its UPS is suspect, and the whole thing hadn't even been turned on for well over a year. I'm glad it went so smoothly. YAY for a newly-functional PalmPilot! Addresses, ho!

Also, celebrated the third and final Christmas of the season, the one I get to celebrate with and for Rob. The other two are family affairs ("duties" isn't too strong a word, though I do enjoy them) far from home; this one is ours. We keep it separate mainly because we don't want to haul our gifts to each other six or seven thousand miles on six different commercial aircraft only to have them end up at home. I know, call us crazy.

As usual I think Rob got me much better gifts than I managed to get him. I think one of mine pleased him, though. That felt good.

After several useless attempts, found a geocache that a) I could get to on these @#$!ing useless feet, and b) was big enough to hold an annoyingly large Travel Bug. Deposited said Travel Bug. Uploaded photos and logged it. BOY is it a relief to get that thing out of my hands. There's nothing like foot surgery to make a person forget about geocaching for a while. There's nothing like knowing foot surgery didn't work and you are now a permanent gimp and there will be no cure, ever to make a person forget about little crap like travel bugs for a while. Too bad that all happened while I was in possession of a bug. If I am smart I will never pick one of those up again.

Also, took down Christmas decorations.

Also, bought a copy of Fortune magazine for its 2006 investment picks and economic predictions. (Hey, survivalists: even Fortune is talking about peak oil.) Utterly failed to do anything useful with Fortune magazine, except I did enjoy tearing out every card and every sheet of paper having nothing but ads. I don't know why that's such a ritual with me, and only with a big ol' yearly-investment-guide issue of Fortune, but I enjoy it, so what the hey.

Filed every @#$!ing piece of paper on my desk. Pulled out my eyeglass prescription (which had been filed properly) and put it in the car in case I get a wild crazy notion to get new glasses. Did laundry. Ran a load of dishes.

Read Stiff. FASCINATING book. Not for the squeamish, and some parts of it were a little hard for an animal lover like me to take, but I'm very glad I read it. Right up there with Dead Men Do Tell Tales.

(Oh, and some interesting things on my plate. Tried a new thing in the crock pot: chicken, soy sauce, ginger, sesame, white wine. Decided against orange peel when sniffing it next to sesame. In retrospect, too much soy sauce and too much wine. Salty-tangy! But the sesame and the ginger were good.)

Utterly failed to:
- do anything useful with the Fortune magazine
- finish updating my Quicken information
- finish my Piper Warrior ground review form
- fly at all
- do a single thing toward swimming, eg find out how much it would cost to join my local Y
- clear out the dangerously full mail drawer
- hand-wash the hand-wash dishes (I'll do that tonight)
- do anything for work, where whether or not I am behind I feel like I'm WAY behind. Tomorrow is going to suck.
