I'm clearly becoming adjusted to these orthotics... well, okay, to the new Big Honking Lumps under specific bones.
Square dancing all weekend, last weekend, worked out pretty well. I was pleasantly surprised. My feet were tired, showing me just how "out of shape" for walking I have become. I haven't been able to walk far for months, and now I'm a tenderfoot! :-)
This morning, I decided to try to run with the B.H.Lumps. Placing the things in my running shoes was tough - they really don't fit quite right. If I learn exactly how they go, I can cut the soft toe part down to size. They're designed for that. (I hope I don't screw up; they're expensive.) I made it about 1/2 mile, maybe 3/4. There were some stabbing pains, probably from slight placement error and from the tendon-stretching that's still going on as my feet adjust. Good thing I walked for a while before trying to run!
In short, looking hopeful. Yet again, the plan is to increase my running mileage slowly and the backup plan is to get the nerves killed.
