Sanded down all the pieces that will soon be a printer table. Goofily enough, I think applying finish NOW rather than later will actually make the whole thing easier, so one coat of Wipe-On Poly for Hand-Rubbed Beauty is drying on there while I goof off on LJ.

Installed Microsoft Office (ugh) so I could have Word (ugh) so I could continue to work on my resume (double ugh) on my laptop (yay). Did not in fact edit even one character of my resume. I will do almost anything to delay actually working on my resume.

Wrote five sequences of C4 (square dance choreo) in an hour and a half. I think that's a personal record. Finally, finally I'm getting faster at writing interesting material.

Found someone on craigslist giving away a free coffee table, needing only sanding and refinishing. Gee, what a deal! Sent mail inquiring about measurements. It sure would be nice to replace that poor half-plastic Zombie Undead Coffee Table that's disintegrating in the middle of my living room. Free makes it even sweeter.

I'm having trouble accessing my home directory, which resides on a Linux server running Samba, from my laptop, which is a Windows XP machine.

Details:

  • This used to work fine when I was accessing that directory from a machine running Windows NT Server.
  • This works for Rob, from his identical Windows XP laptop.
  • This works for me *IF* I change my password to 'cjsmith' on both the laptop and the server. (The Linux server, of course, doesn't want to let me use such a stupid password, but I can override that if I'm root.) I am willing (grudgingly) to change my password to work around what is obviously a bug or extremely bad design on somebody's part, but I'm not willing to have a password identical to my username.
  • This does NOT work for me if I use the password Rob uses. I have tried about six other passwords, and none of them work either.
Anybody know what to try next?
