Wednesday: Ran. Stopped off at Jelly Belly Factory on the way out of town. Fun tour. Yummy sample counter. I bought a pile of "souvenirs". Drove to Dunsmuir, near Mt. Shasta; slept in railroad car.

Thursday: Poked around town of Mt. Shasta, esp. a couple of bookstores my mom loved. Made friends with cute black Lab at a photo store. Drove to Portland. Dug out city map to figure out a six-mile running course starting and ending at the hotel.

Friday: 6mi, 63min! Hills are actually a win. I think I saw every homeless person in Portland. They were friendly. Rest of day: Powell's. Discovered a whole block of delicious restaurants within a ten-minute walk of the bookstore. Spent "too much" money, as expected. Not sorry.

Saturday: Saturday Market, under Burnside Bridge. Nearly collapsed in pain on streetcar on the way to lunch. Time to start painkillers. Scared the bejeezus out of my mom. She hasn't seen me go through this in quite a while. 133% of my allowable dose of Aleve for the day, plus a glass of wine (yeah, bad girl), made me ambulatory again. Back at market, spent too much money by some measure, but I don't regret a single purchase. Sneakily purchased surprise Mother's Day gift while Mom was distracted elsewhere. :-)

Sunday: Delivered gift at breakfast - big hit. Tillamook. Scenic coast drive. Stayed in a motel I will never stay in again. Tillamook cheese place has delicious ice cream.

Monday: Did not run. (Figured if the pain broke through the chemicals while I was in some random desolate stretch of US101, no one would ever find me.) Much scenic coast stuff. Little flea market store had fondue forks, which I gladly bought to replace some I'm still missing from a long-ago party. Suddenly realized we had a little less than three hours to drive about a 3.5-hour stint. Fled for Dunsmuir. At least two highway patrolmen looked the other way. (I know this because I watched them.) Slept in a railroad car.

Tuesday: Poked around the town of Mount Shasta, including a drive up to Castle Lake (currently frozen over). Met some cute dogs there. Drove home. Reunited with loving adorable kitties. Tired. Sleep now.
