1. What is one thing you don't like about your body?
It is female.
2. What are two things you love about your body?
It can do weird things, such as cross one eye, wiggle one ear, and roll its tongue into a straw.
Its hands are well-conditioned from years of piano playing, so that even though I type more and faster than most people I know, I have never had hints of an RSI from it.
3. What are three things you want to change about your home?
If I had infinite time and money?
- Add heat and AC ductwork into the room where I now sit.
- Remove all the louvered windows and replace them with double-paned.
- Remove the swimming pool and plant something living.
Oh, man, I could go on. Add solar power. Convert to grounded 3-prong electric. Repaint over the plumbing scars. Remove the old once-was window that was never properly removed when this room was added. Build a dog run.
4. What are four books you want to read this year?
Le jeu des forces, McCaffrey & Scarborough (French version of Power Play)
Walking the Trail: One Man's Journey along the Cherokee Trail of Tears, Jerry Ellis
The Quark and the Jaguar: Adventures in the Simple and the Complex, Murray Gell-Mann
Teach Yourself Beginner's Arabic Script, John MacE
5. What are five promises you have kept to yourself?
I don't tend to make explicit promises to myself, but here are some that I would feel comfortable stating and have already kept for a while:
- I will not let someone else dictate how I "should" feel or what I "should" think about something. I will listen and make up my own mind.
- I will continually seek opportunities to learn.
- I will remove myself from situations that are detrimental to me.
- I will not go back to work until my main motivation is something other than anaesthetizing myself.
- When seeking advice or support, I will present a situation in a way that is as fair as I can be to any third parties not present... even people with whom I'm very angry.
