I thought it was bad on Friday. Well, it's worse now. My main computer's only hard drive is toast. The IT folks discovered this over the weekend - presumably Saturday - and didn't do any of the three possible useful things: 1) get me a new disk with the OS on it, so I can at least redo my work; 2) attempt to stick the drive in a computer that can boot off something else, to see whether the data can be recovered; 3) ship the drive to the recovery center. Well, #2 has been done now (failed; it won't even spin) and I am assured that #1 and #3 are in progress.
The upshot of all this is that I am using a computer that is about one-sixth as powerful as the good one used to be. And yes, I'm still on the critical path here, with four people picking their noses until I get this stuff done. The bright news is that the simulator team now has at least a week before they're holding me up. I was thinking tomorrow I'd be waiting on them. Doubt it!
All my boxes arrived as they should have. I suppose that's good.
Lunch was an outdoor barbecue to be festive and welcome us to the new location. The three choices of grilled objects were things I either could not or would not eat. I had some cole slaw. By now, of course, I'm ravenous. Time to unpack the box of FOOOOOOOOOD.
