Woohoo! Talked to Patrick this morning and got approval to go to 3x/wk cardio, 2x/wk weights, and 1x/wk bonus day -- whatever I feel like. (Probably weights. They're more fun.) WOOHOO! This is still going to be tough, but it's going to be much more maintainable. It's probably no less time than I'm spending now, but the feeling of failure is gone; I got "official approval" to back down. Ah, the human mind is a funny thing.
This evening I head out for Canada to go skiing... 8-) Don't know if agreeing to this trip was a good thing or not. I kind of wanted to get my foot in the door with the crowd I'll call the Kim and Jen Crowd, a few people who plan exotic and/or expensive vacations frequently. I don't have the time or money to go on many of them, but maybe one or two very occasionally would be good, and a weekend in Canada is (trust me on this) a CHEAP way to get introduced. So now I'll see whether I get ignored by the one person in the group whom I do know (he's promised not to ignore me, so I'd book odds at fifty-fifty on it) and whether I injure my knee (I haven't been skiing in at least six years).
[Hmm. Note theme of keeping up with people cropping up here. People with lots of money and time, who couldn't care less whether I come along, are organizing this thing, and what do I do? Push to get included, whether or not the event fits MY budget and needs. IDIOT. Hmmmmm.]
Well, we'll see. At the very least I get to spend some of my leftover Canadian cash, and if I do hurt my knee, I get to sit in the lodge for a day and maybe study C4. Not necessarily a bad "worst case" outcome. :-)
"See" you Monday!
