Boy am I ever in a bad work mood.

This weekend's scheduled downtime was supposedly a domain / ClearCase migration. OK so far. But at the last minute, it was revealed that everybody's machine name will have to change. I HATE the stupid machine-generated-random style machine names. They make it very difficult for people to work together and share information, because we have to run around with little pieces of paper on which long strings of random characters are written. This stupidity is perpetuated only because the company I work for is too lazy to create subdomains; they need a scheme for making unique names across the entire globe, and the rest of us have to suffer. Now even if we'd been told back when this downtime was scheduled, it might not have been so bad; but I know darn well that this was kept quiet until the last minute because somebody knew it was gonna be unpopular and didn't want to give the masses time to muster any arguments. THAT stinks.

Plus we were just told today that we're moving. To a facility that's ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE DUMP. In less than a month. This is three weeks after I joined a gym near the current facility, and it will triple my commute, as well. And we're going to move AGAIN in less than a year. Cost savings, anyone? As it turns out, the stated reason for this is cost savings. But the company does not save a single cent doing this; rather, it pays the overhead for two moves. It's just that the accountants can classify the charges differently this way, pretending to save nearly two million dollars, so we get to live by the dump for a year because of an accounting trick.

I am so @#$!ing disgusted with my job.
