Ugh

The doughnut I just picked up in the break room had been sitting next to an onion bagel.

Onion bagels should be quarantined!

When my dad would get bagels when I was kid - the onion (and/or garlic) came home in a seperate bag. I still do this when I get bagels with my husband. I love onion bagels.

Blech. I'm reminded of a muffin I got at a conference once that had been on a platter too close to an onion bagel. You're right, the things should be kept well away from other foods.

There really should be an antonym for serendipity.

Even if one likes onion bagels, the cognitive dissonance resulting from the unsuspected taste transferance has got to be rather unpleasant.

I once had a cherry turnover with some onions sercretly baked into the bottom. With the first bite, my mouth watering anticipation was shattered into myriad shards which immediately evaporated like ice in the Death Vally summer sun. Nasty and disappointing.

My antonym for serendipity is way too generic -- "ugh!" :-)
