Surgery.
1. Neuroma, 3rd interstice (between 3d and 4th metatarsal heads), both feet.
Surgery will remove this nerve completely.
Surgery will also "release" (sever) the transverse metatarsal ligament (the one holding the 3d and 4th metatarsal heads together).
No contraindications for running due to severing that ligament.
2. Some injury to flexor tendons and plantar plate, sitting under the 3d metatarsal head, both feet.
None of these structures are severed completely. Surgery cannot fix them. This must be treated symptomatically - oral anti-inflams, cortisone injection, ice.
Surgery will mean no driving for 2-3 weeks. Use crutches for the first week or so. Funky shoes (how long??)
To be scheduled -- soon, I hope.

The running, well, that surprises me. *grins* But good for you! I need to find activities I like better and Do Them More Often.

Oh man, high school age camping trips! Gah, I'M OLD. Yi. Y'ever get that feeling? *shakes head*
My only claim to ANY kind of success with exercise comes from finding something I enjoy. If I'd never done that I'd be a complete 100% couch potato still. I don't have the willpower to exercise just for its own sake. Wish I did, but nope.

I've found a few things I do enjoy doing (biking, for one) but the weather hasn't cooperated. Either it's too cold, too rainy, or so hot & muggy and allergenic that I can't breathe. It's been a bad summer. *pouts*
And yeah, I don't get the whole exercise just because. Wish I did!

Weather makes a huge difference for biking and running, doesn't it? Clearly you need to move to California! Um. Or not. :-)
