Lovely wedding

Thank you, everyone, for your responses to my previous entry!

In the spirit of "always write the ending": I wore the comfy shoes with a pantsuit. There were no kneelers and there was no kneeling at all during this Mass; I sat (behind everyone else, unobtrusively I hope). There was no dancing at the reception. I limped a bunch. No one said a word about any of this. My feet are no worse than they were this morning. Yay! :-)

Now I sorta wonder if I could've stood. I had the good shoes, after all. I wasn't the only one seated though: two older Catholic women sat down part way into each standing period.

The wedding was lovely. For all its formality, it was simple in many ways. The bride looked gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. I usually see her in jeans... a gown with a train is a little different. :-) The groom looked nervous, but at the reception he relaxed noticeably. It was good to see her and to meet her family (and her now-husband!) for the first time.

People with physical problems modify what they do during masses. People sit during kneeling-prayers, or when they're supposed to stand. Folks get the whole gumpy thing.

Yay! It was fun and the comfy shoes won out!

Yay!!!

And if I'm allowed to use the electric carts in the grocery store, you're allowed to wear comfy shoes all the time. Deal?

Good for you! I'm happy you decided to wear the good shoes and pantsuit, and that it worked well. And thanx for "writing the ending"!

Episcopal tradition, as I was taught ever since I was a kid, is that even if some of the congregation decide to get huffy if you can't "rise and fall with the tide," God understands.

And a happy ending! Great!

P.S.: I admire your consideration and trying to do "what's right," I should prolly mention.
