Running Feet

I tried to run today. Running two days in a row is an important test, I told myself.

I got maybe twenty paces before I knew I would have to turn back. I walked and stretched and hopped a little bit, deceiving myself, but I was being foolish and I knew it. I galloped home, putting full weight only on the foot that wasn't currently hurting.

I'm not sure quite how to compare it, but this may mean I have made no progress whatsoever. I couldn't do two days in a row in December, nor can I now.

Ah well. I'll see what the physical therapist makes of this. I'm glad I tried it. If I'm not "cured" I want to know I'm not cured, so I can keep talking to doctors until I am. I hold on to the hope that one day I will run again.

I'm so sorry. :( I hope that something can be figured out.

What about bicycling as an alternative exercise to running or swimming?

Darn.

I still think the first day was progress -- when you were here, your feet complained when you *walked*.

Here's hoping one day you WILL run again, and every day.

As someone who just "cant run" for exercise, I feel for you. Fight the good fight, but I'm glad your also consulting your PT. L is seeing a PT, finally for his back issues and plantar fas...(sp?) They're actually related pains. And he is an exercise fiend too. I hope this does not keep either one of you down too long.

Ugh, I'm sorry. I had plantar fasciitis last year and it's only now subsiding (I will NEVER do yoga again, I don't care that I was likely doing it wrong, never never never!). I am able to go to the gym regularly as long as I vary what I do, wear special inserts in my shoes all the time, and do this weird thing with a tennis ball every evening. I feel fortunate that I must have gotten a light case.

I know it's discouraging that it seems you haven't progressed since December. Maybe you have progressed and just slowly? Maybe two days in a row is too much at this stage. I wonder if you might have good results if you separate your runs by two or three days.

I'm glad that surgery remains an option, though I hope it won't be necessary.

Sympathies on the setback... that must be so frustrating! Good for you for keeping on pursuing it.
