Beautiful beautiful weekend!

Every time I go to Yosemite I try to think up ways to bring those colors home. The gray of the granite, blue sky, deep green pines and cedars, and (this time of year) white snow are just lovely. I see them and feel as if I'm healing from something. The views are a Band-Aid for my soul.

Hiked up to the top of Upper Yosemite Falls yesterday. Definite huffing and puffing. Either I am out of shape or I was dehydrated and low on sleep... probably both. Lower half to two-thirds of trail in great condition, clear and dry. (Southern exposure must help - Glacier Point trail, very similar but on opposite side of valley, is completely closed.) Upper portion covered with snow, quite deep in some places, very slippery in others, but worth it.

Stunning, breathtaking views. Almost missed the best view of the whole thing: 150 yards down a side trail is an overlook point showing the Falls in its entirety, from the top of the upper falls down through the snow cone, the middle cascades, and the lower falls, all the way to the bridge with tourists standing on it getting mist in their faces. Glad we saw someone coming up that side trail. He told us what was there.

I really hope my pictures come out well so I can show everyone. What a great hike. I want to convince all my friends to climb up there and look at it and let the view seep through their souls, and maybe some of them would come away as happy as I am.

THAT was DISGUSTING.

Kim just brought me outside to see a dead rat. Yuck )

We decided that section of lawn didn't need mowing right now.

Fox and Geese

Anybody here good at the game of Fox and Geese? Total beginner wonders how a game is ever anything but a draw. Seems too easy for either side to force the draw.
