I know I learned to sew (create new garments) before learning to mend. Still, so many decades later, I'm not sure I'd know how to teach it that way. Sew a straight seam, parallel to an edge? Basic skill; learn it early. Might as well be on this grocery bag.

Maybe I'm just being sneaky and getting benefits out of it along the way. My student in this case would be amused. :)
